Art School Janitor is an Illustrator and Printmaker who loves whimsy!
After being a sanitation cleaner at my art school in 2020, I wanted to be able to build a brand where I can tie whimsy and relatability together in a hap-hazard little bow! During this time in college, I fell in love with the printmaking process, and as I result I wanted to bring that to my business! I love hearing people giggle at my silly designs as well as adding some whimsy to people’s wardrobe!
My work is inspired by anime, pop culture, and media where I add a hyper-femme twist to things! Making things inspired by the queer experience is also I like to strive for!
Additionally, I recently finished my MFA in Illustration and Visual Culture at Washington University in St. Louis, where I researched queer representation in the magical girl genre! This is also where I worked on my graphic Novel Frances and the Sugar Squad, about a unmagical girl in her mid-to-late twenties who is struggling to find herself in an all magical world!
